Nvidia RTX 4070 Super FE Review

The RTX 4070 Super Founders Edition brings the Nvidia stealthy packaging back. If you’re used to the gaudy lime green colouring for which Nvidia is most famous, this is a nice change. Heck it takes a moment to find a lighting angle where it doesn’t just look like a black box. Ride on time.
We can’t work out if the packaging design reminds us foremost of the Pearl and Dean pre-film sting or if we need a Kool-Aid “oooh yeah”. Either way it grabs your attention.
If you’ve seen any of the current Nvidia Founders Edition cards then the RTX 4070 Super will be very familiar. It stick rigidly to their successful formula of soft curves and all black aesthetics.
The underside of the card is where the magic happens. One fan sucks in all that cool air from the bottom of your case, pushes it across the PCB, and spits the hot air out the other side where it can be exhausted.
Looking at it in close up you can test your eyesight, or your monitor, with the close fins on the right hand side. If we try to focus it makes us cross-eyed. Fortunately in real-life it’s much easier to resolve.
Certainly the branding is incredibly subtle. The tiniest word Super on the bottom echoing the embossed black Super on the top.
If you’ve been following along with our news you’ll know that the Nvidia power connector has been through some teething troubles. Not least that most people don’t own a power supply that supports it without using adaptors. Important to note that the RTX 4070 Super continues to use it, should you be planning an upgrade.
At the business end we find three DisplayPort and a single HDMI, as well as large vent openings.
