Specifications for AMD’s Ryzen 8000G “Phoenix” desktop CPUs leak
AMD’s reportedly launching their Phoenix desktop CPUs as their Ryzen 8000G series
It looks like AMD plans to launch new desktop variants of their Phoenix APUs. These CPUs are expected to be launched as AMD Ryzen 8000G series processors, CPUs that will feature both Zen 4 CPU cores and RDNA 3 graphics.
AMD has started distributing new AM5 chipset AGESA revisions to manufacturers that enable support for these new Phoenix processors. This updates feature AMD’s AGESA Combo AM5 PI 1.1.0.0 firmware. Some manufacturers have already released this new firmware to customers with new BIOS updates for AMD 600-series motherboards.
Detailed specifications for these rumoured Ryzen 8000G series APUs from AMD have leaked through HKEPC. These specifications reveal CPU core counts, core types, and GPU CU counts. Sadly, CPU/GPU clock speeds remain unknown. Additionally, it is unknown if these new APUs will feature AMD’s XDNA AI engines. If AMD wants to push AI as a selling point, they should include XDNA AI engines of their Phoenix silicon whenever possible. However, it remains to be seen if whether AMD will do this with their new APUs.

Two sets of CPU silicon for AMD’s Ryzen 8000G series
AMD’s Ryzen 8000G series will be made up of both Phoenix 1 and Phoenix 2 silicon. Phoenix 1 CPUs can feature up to eight Zen 4 CPU cores and 12 RDNA 3 compute units. Phoenix 2 CPUs can feature up to four Zen 4 CPU cores, four Zen 4c CPU cores, and four RDNA 3 Compute Units.
Below are the leaked specifications of AMD’s Ryzen 8000G series APUs.
CPU Architectures | Cores/Threads | Base/Boost Clock Speeds | Graphics | TDP | |
Ryzen 7 8700G | Zen 4 | 8C/16T | – | 12 RDNA 3 CUs | 65W |
Ryzen 5 8600G | Zen 4 | 6C/12T | – | 8 RDNA 3 CUs | 65W |
Ryzen 5 8500G | Zen 4 + Zen 4C | 6C/12T
(2 Zen 4 + 4 Zen 4c) |
– | 4 RDNA 3 CUs | 65W |
Ryzen 3 8300G | Zen 4 + Zen 4C | 4C/8T
(1 Zen 4 + 3 Zen 4c) |
– | 4 RDNA 3 CUs | 65W |
It is likely that AMD will reveal their Ryzen 8000G series processors at CES 2024. This will likely be a minor announcement from AMD, especially if the company does not include XDNA AI compute as part of these new desktop CPUs.
