Modder releases RTX Remix Demo for Call of Duty: World at War

Modder brings Ray Tracing to Call of Duty: World at War with an RTX Remix demo

A modder called “xoxor4d” has released a demo of a new RTX Remix path tracing mod for Call of Duty: World at War. This mod upgrades the game’s zombies mode using Nvidia’s RTX Remix technology, adding ray traced lighting to the game.

Right now, this demo only applies to the game’s “Nacht der Untoten” (Night of the Undead) map. The mod does not appear to replace any of the game’s assets. That said its addition of path traced lighting changes the look of the game. Xoxor4d has confirmed that this is a proof of concept demo, which could be improved and expanded over time with enough support and interest.

One of the highlights of the video demo below is when the player uses the M2 Flamethrower. The flames from the weapon produces a lot of light, and the impact of that light is huge. While this demo does no showcase the full potential of RTX Remix, it does showcase the benefits of RTX lighting.

Since this demo only usesRTX Remix for lighting, we can conclude that it doesn’t showcase the full potential of RTX Remix. RTX Remix can greatly improve games with new textures, assets, and ray traced lighting. This RTX Remix demo for World at War only scratches the surface of what is possible with Nvidia’s technology.

For this RTX Mod to work with World at War, gamers will need to install this

compatibility mod from Github. After this, gamers can then install the Nact Der Untoten Demo mod from ModDB.
