Salt and Sanctuary is now free to claim on the Epic Games Store

Salt and Sanctuary is the Epic Games Store’s latest free PC game

Today is the 13th day of the Epic Games Store’s “15 Days of Free Games” promotion, and today’s free game is Ska Studios’ Salt and Sanctuary, a 2D platformer that is highly praised for its strong art style and Souls-inspired mechanics. 

Salt and Sanctuary will be available for free until December 30th at 4 PM GMT, after which a new game will be made available for free on the Epic Games Store. Ska Studios have a sequel for Salt and Sanctuary in development called Salt and Sacrifice, making now a great time to play Salt and Sanctuary on PC. 

Unfortunately, while Salt and Sanctuary supports Windows, macOS and Linux on Steam, Salt and Sanctuary only supports Windows on the Epic Games Store. While this is not an issue for most PC gamers, non-Windows gamers may be annoyed by this issue. That said, this game should be playable on Linux using a translation layer like Proton. On Steam, Salt and Sanctuary has a “Very Positive” review rating.

   A doomed sailor is shipwrecked on an uncharted island. In fog-shrouded valleys, where grinning, mossy corpses cling to rusted arms, shambling figures begin to stir. Beneath crumbling, salt-worn structures, labyrinthine passageways lead to unspeakable evil, long forgotten by man.

Salt and Sanctuary seamlessly combines fast, brutal, and complex 2D combat with richly developed RPG mechanics. Discover, craft, and upgrade over 600 weapons, armor pieces, spells, and items as you explore a cursed realm of forgotten cities, blood-soaked dungeons, desecrated monuments, and the fallen lords they once celebrated.

When combined with discounts on many recently released titles, this results in some incredible deals. Epic’s £10 voucher can reduce the price of Far Cry 6 from its already discounted £32.49 price (a 35% Discount) to £22.49 (a 55% discount). This discount will apply to all applicable purchases until January 6th. This means that you can redeem this £10 voucher more than once.
