Here’s what you need to run Returnal on PC

Is your PC ready for Returnal?

Returnal is ‘coming soon’ to PC on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, arriving thanks to Housemarque and Climax Studios. Returnal is a 3rd person roguelike game that launched on PlayStation 5 in 2021, winning several end-of-year game awards from multiple organisations for its striking visuals, interesting story, and strong gameplay loop.

Today, listing for Returnal have arrived on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and while the game has not recieved an official release date, the game now has official PC system requirements. Like many modern PC games, these system requirements recommended SSD storage, but RAM-wise, this is the first game to recommended that PC gamers have 32GB of system. 

Thankfully, Returnal’s PC system requirements only list 16GB of system memory as being a requirement to run the game, as most PC gamers are unlikely to have more than 16GB of system memory.

After crash-landing on this shape-shifting world, Selene must search through the barren landscape of an ancient civilization for her escape. Isolated and alone, she finds herself fighting tooth and nail for survival. Again and again, she’s defeated – forced to restart her journey every time she dies.

Through fast, relentless gameplay, you’ll discover that just as the planet changes with every cycle, so do the items at your disposal. Every loop offers new combinations, empowering you to push your boundaries and approach combat with a different strategy each time.

GPU-wise, Returtnal should be able to run on PCs with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or an AMD RX 580 8GB, with Nvidia’s RTX 2070 SUPER and AMD’s RX 6700 XT being recommended. We expect PlayStation PC to release more detailed system requirements for Returnal before the game launches on PC, which should feature framerate and settings targets for these hardware configurations.
