Tesla cars are now gaming rigs - Steam has arrived on Model S and Model X

Steam has been integrated into Tesla Model S and Model X vehicles, turning them into gaming rigs

As part of each model’s “Holiday Update”, Tesla’s “new” (likely Plaid) Model S and Model X vehicles have gained support for Steam, Valve’s PC gaming client. This allows users of compatible Tesla vehicles to play PC games on their EVs, effectively turning their infotainment systems into powerful gaming PCs.

Tesla’s latest Model S and Model X vehicles contain an infotainment system that features an AMD Ryzen processor and an AMD RDNA 2 GPU. This gives newer Tesla vehicles enough gaming horsepower to play modern PC games, with Tesla showcasing Cyberpunk 2077 in the video below.

With Steam integration Tesla has stated that their Model S and Model X vehicles are now compatible with thousands of PC games. It is currently believed that Tesla’s vehicles cannot play PC games while in motion, making Tesla’s gaming feature a stationary affair. This is a handy feature for anyone who needs to wait for their vehicle to fast charge, though it is worth remembering that powering what is effectively a gaming PC will reduce your Tesla’s rate of charge.

Tesla’s Holiday update for their Model S and Model X vehicles has also added support for Apple Music to their infotainment system.
