The Witcher 3 Next-Gen’s PC version has problems, and CD Projekt Red are working on fixes

The Witcher 3’s next-generation update has landed, and PC gamers are not happy. While the update delivers the graphical improvements that gamers expect, many PC players have complained about how the game now performs on their systems, with some gamers choosing to roll-back the update to play The Witcher 3’s original PC version.

Many PC players have complained about stuttering in The Witcher 3’s new version, and many PC players have complained about how hard the game now is on gaming systems. Even players with high-end setups are having problems, especially with regards to CPU performance. CPU performance issues are particularly prevalent when ray tracing is enabled in The Witcher 3’s next-gen version.

For users of Nvidia’s new RTX 40 series graphics cards, The Witcher 3’s addition of DLSS 3 is able to bypass the game’s CPU limited performance through Nvidia’s new DLSS Frame Generation feature, but given how few PC gamers own, or can afford, an RTX 40 series GPU, this leaves the vast majority of PC gamers with performance struggles.

CD Projekt Red has released the following statement to acknowledge the issues that PC gamers face, confirming that the company is now investigating all reported issues.

The Witcher 3’s Next-Gen update is reminding gamers of Cyberpunk 2077’s problematic launch. Hopefully CD Projekt Red can work quickly to address the problems that are presented with The Witcher 3’s newest patch, and make their next-generation version a satisfying experience for all.
