Nvidia accidentally reveals their RTX 4070 Ti's specifications

Nvidia confirms that their RTX 4070 Ti is just a rebadged RTX 4080 12GB

Nvidia is preparing to launch their RTX 4070 Ti, and that means that the company are preparing their website for their official reveal with product pages, specifications, and other information. When preparing these listings, Nvidia’s apparently made a mistake, accidentally putting some of these pages live for the world to see, with @momomo_us spotting their RTX 4070 Ti listing.

Nvidia’s accidental reveal of their RTX 4070 Ti’s specifications has confirmed something that we have long expected, that their RTX 4070 Ti graphics card is simply a renamed RTX 4080 12GB, with both graphics cards featuring the same core specifications, with 7680 CUDA cores, a boost clock speed of 2.61GHz, and 12GB of GDDR6X memory.

In the image below, Nvidia has compared their RTX 4070 Ti with their RTX 3080 12GB graphics card, with Nvidia showcasing a greater than 2x performance gain in Microsoft Flight Simulator, and a greater than 3x performance gain in Cyberpunk 2077 in the game’s unreleased “RT Overdrive mode”.

Nvidia’s performance claims rely entirely on DLSS 3

Nvidia’s benchmarks above are for three games that feature Nvidia’s DLSS 3 technology, which means that all three of the games below rely on DLSS Frame Generation to deliver Nvidia’s claimed performance gains. For games that do not support DLSS 3, Nvidia’s performance gains with their RTX 4070 Ti will be much lower. Gamers should not expect a doubling of performance in all games.

What’s also notable is that Cyberpunk 2077’s “New RT Overdrive” mode is currently not available to regular owners of Cyberpunk 2077. This makes Nvidia’s performance claims for this mode irrelevant for consumers, as gamers cannot currently access this version of Cyberpunk 2077. Nvidia did not provide data from the current retail version of Cyberpunk 2077, data that is arguably a lot more relevant for gamers.
