The Day Before has recieved its gameplay reveal, and it does not live up to the hype

Fntastic has released their first gameplay trailer for The Day Before, their Unreal Engine 5-powered open-world MMO that was, at a time, one of the most wishlisted games on Steam, PC’s premiere gaming storefront.

The Day Before is an MMO survival game that takes place in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. The game takes place in a post-pandemic America that is overrun with flesh-hungry infected and survivors that are battling each other for the nation’s remaining resources.

Based on the gameplay trailer below, the game looks a lot like a beta version of Ubisoft’s The Division with a bit of The Last of Us thrown into the mix. Visually, the game is not as graphically impressive as its reveal trailer, and the gameplay shown appears to be very generic. The trailer has long sections that have nothing but jogging, crafting, and exploring, which are rather boring affairs. Even so, the trailer has proven that The Day Before is a playable game, which should put rumours that the game is a “scam” or “fake” to rest.

It has previously been claimed by Nvidia that The Day Before will release with ray-traced reflections, ambient occlusion, RTX Global Illumination and DLSS support. These features appear to be missing from the game’s gameplay reveal trailer.
