Leaked AMD review guide reveals AMD's Ryzen 9 7950X3D's gaming performance

AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X3D delivers impressive performance numbers in AMD’s leaked review guide

HD Technologia has leaked what they claim to be AMD’s official Ryzen 9 7950X3D review guide, showcasing the gaming performance of AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology on their flagship 16-core Zen 4 processor design.

When compared to Intel’s i9-13900K processor, AMD’s V-Cache enhanced Ryzen 9 7950X3D deliver up to a 27% performance advantage over Intel’s current flagship, though there are also some games where AMD’s Ryzen CPU falls behind.

In all, we consider AMD’s choice of games to test a strange lineup, with many of the games below being older titles (Warhammer: Dawn of War III released in 2017), and some of the games are so easy to run on PC that AMD’s quoted average framerates are over 250 FPS in most cases. Simply put, AMD should have put more demanding PC games in this comparison, games where large performance gains would be worthwhile to gamers.

For starters, AMD has the comparison below of their Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Intel’s i9-13900K with a Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card. In all, AMD shows that they offer a 5.6% performance advantage on average over Intel.

Both of the systems below used DDR5-6000 memory and used identical 980 PRO 1TB SSDs for storage. Both systems were also using Windows 11.

In addition to their RX 7900 XTX testing, AMD also compared their Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Intel’s i9-13900K with their standard Ryzen 9 7950X using an RTX 4090 graphics card. Below, you can see that AMD says that their new X3D processors is 16% faster than their standard 7950X on average, and 6% faster than Intel’s i9-13900K on average.

Again, we are disappointed that we are not seeing benchmarks for more CPU-heavy games within this benchmark comparison. Data for games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide and other more modern CPU-heavy games would have been welcome.

AMD also provided performance data comparing AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X3D with Intel’s i9-13900K in several productivity applications, revealing that both processors deliver similar performance level in many cases. That said, AMD smashes Intel in that 7Zip test.

While AMD’s performance results for their Ryzen 9 7950X3D are impressive, it is a shame that AMD limited most of their testing to games that aren’t that taxing on modern hardware. Then again, that disappointment assumes that this leaked review guide is real, and and not a fabrication.
