Baldur's Gate 3 is coming to Xbox, but it will arrive there after PC and PS5

It looks like Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox, but technical issues have forced Larian for focus on PS5 and PC

In a statement the company’s Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, Larain Studios stated that Baldur’s Gate 3 “had an Xbox version…in the works for some time” and that the developer had “run into some technical issues”, that pushed the studio’s focus to the game’s PlayStation 5 and PC versions.

On August 31st 2023, Baldur’s Gate III will be coming to PC, Mac, and PlayStation 5, an announcement that lead to allegations that the studio had signed an exclusivity agreement with Sony to make the game a PlayStation 5 console exclusive. This is not the case, and Larian’s Swen Vincke has taken to Twitter to confirm that the studio “still aren’t playing the exclusivity game”.

Currently, it is unknown when Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, or what the nature of the game’s “technical issues” are on the Xbox platform. It is possible that the game has issues running on Xbox Series S given its limited memory/RAM capacity, though this is merely speculation.

It remains possible that Baldur’s Gate 3 could release “day and date” with PlayStation and PC should Larain Studios be able to work around their game’s technical issues. That said, this isn’t a definitive confirmation that Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox.
