Expect a “sneak peek” at AMD’s future FidelityFX technologies at GDC 2023

GDC 2023 is starting later this month, and AMD plans to host several sessions at the event for developers who want to optimise games for their hardware, and developers who want to take advantage of new technologies like DirectStorage.

At GDC 2023, AMD will be hosting sessions that focus on Ryzen processor optimisation, Temporal Upscaling, DirectStorage, Game Optimisation, efficient Ray Traced Global Illumination, and AMD’s FidelityFX technologies.

During AMD’s FidelityFX SDK session, AMD has confirmed that they will be giving developers “an exciting sneak peek of new FidelityFX technologies that will be available soon”. AMD has previously revealed FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.0, a technology that appears to be AMD’s answer to Nvidia’s DLSS 3.0 Frame Generation feature, and it is possible that FSR 3.0 will be one of the things that AMD wants to show to developers.

AMD’s FidelityFX technology lineup includes FidelityFX Super Resolution ( FSR1.0 and 2.0), FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS), FidelityFX Ambient Occlusion, FidelityFX Variable Rate Shading, FidelityFX Screen Space Reflections, and FidelityFX Denoiser.

AMD’s FidelityFX technologies have become incredibly popular amongst developers, with AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution technologies finding their way into games on both PC and consoles. Even some Nintendo Switch games utilise AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution technology, and Nintendo’s Switch hardware uses an Nvidia made SOC, highlighting how AMD’s technologies can positively impact all gamers, not just those with Radeon graphics cards.
