Hogwarts Legacy has been delayed again on Last-Generation Consoles

Hogwarts Legacy is no longer launching on April 4th for PS4 and Xbox One

Avalanche Software and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment have announced that the last-generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy have been delayed until May 5th 2023. At this time, the game is still expected to launch on Nintendo Switch on July 25th.

Hogwarts Legacy is already available on PC and current-generation consoles, and the game has the potential to be very demanding on the hardware within these systems. It is likely that Avalanche Software needed more time to optimise the game for last-generation console hardware, with the company stating that they are delaying the game to deliver the “best possible experience”.

Currently, it is unknown how the last-generation versions of Hogwarts Legacy will compare to the game’s current-generation versions, though significant graphical cutbacks are expected. This is especially true for the game’s promised Switch version, as Nintendo’s console is much less powerful than PS4 and Xbox One, newer mind their next-generation counterparts.

Hogwarts Legacy is an impressive release, and while the game has its controversies, it is the most technically impressive game Harry Potter game to date, and one of the best Harry Potter games that have ever been created. Let’s just hope that this game’s last-generation versions can live up to the game’s impressive current-generation and PC version.
