1.4 million were playing CS:GO simultaneously last weekend, a new record

CS:GO achieves a new concurrent player count record with 1.4 million simultaneous players

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) has achieved a new concurrent player record, eleven years after the game’s release on Steam. Last weekend, over 1.4 million CS:GO players were playing the game simultaneously, easily surpassing the game’s prior record of 1.32 million, which itself was set last month. 

According to SteamDB, 1,420,183 players were playing CS:GO at its new peak, with the game rarely dipping below half a million players during the past week. Before last month’s record, the previous CS:GO concurrent player peak was set at 1.308 million three years ago, which occurred when lockdowns were prevalent during the COVID 19 pandemic, keeping more gamers inside to play their favourite FPS.

Over recent weeks, there have been reports that Valve are preparing a new version of CS:GO, something that could possibly be an entirely new Counter Strike game. Some have suggested that this game is Counter Strike 2, or CS:GO 2, though Valve have not yet commented on the matter.
