Don’t expect to see Diablo IV on Xbox Game Pass

Diablo IV is easily the most highly anticipated title coming from Blizzard, and a lot of gamers are wondering where the game will be available when it launches. With Microsoft working to acquire Activision Blizzard, many gamers expect to see Diablo IV on Xbox/PC Game Pass, and Blizzard’s Rod Fergusson has confirmed on his Twitter account that no, Diablo IV will not be coming to Game Pass.

It’s awesome seeing the excitement around the Diablo IV Beta, and our Wolf Pack puppy! We’ve been getting some questions about D4 on Game Pass and I want to let you know we have no plans for that. See you in Sanctuary during the Beta Early Access weekend starting on March 17!

What’s worth remembering here is that Microsoft has not finished its acquisition Activision Blizzard, and that means that Microsoft is unable to tell Activision Blizzard what to do. Until the acquisition closes, Activision Blizzard is an independent company, and that means that you should not expect to see their games on Microsoft’s Game Pass services.

Once Microsoft acquires Activision Blizzard (assuming the deal closes), Microsoft will be able to tell Activision Blizzard to bring their games to Xbox/PC Game Pass. Until then, there is no reason for Activision Blizzard to work on that.
