Prime Matter reveals System Shock's PC system requirements and a new release date

System Shock’s remake is now launching on May 30th

Prime Matter has confirmed that their modern remake of System Shock has been delayed until May 30th. Originally, the developer wanted to launch the game before the end of March, but this aim was out of reach for the studio.

For the uninitiated, Prime Matter’s System Shock is a modern remake of the 1994 original that combines the gameplay of the cult classic with modern HD visuals, updated controls and a wide range of other improvements.

Unlike the original, 2023’s System Shock remake will also include new enemies, a revamped hacking system, and new visceral combat options. The game will also feature numerous quality of life improvements that will make the game more appealing to modern audiences.

Below is what Prime Matter had to say about System Shock’s delay.

The wait is (almost) over. The PC edition of System Shock – the fully fledged remake of the groundbreaking original from 1994 – will be released on May 30th this year.

We had hoped to bring the game to market by the end of March, but that turned out to be just beyond our reach; we are after all merely human (unlike Shodan!)
