Naughty Dog apologises to PC games, promises more The Last of Us Part 1 patches

Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy are working to address the known issues in The Last of Us Part 1’s PC version

On Twitter, Naughty Dog has released a statement apologising to PC gamers about the current state of The Last of Us Part 1 on the platform, stating that both Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy are working to resolve the issues that are preventing the game from reaching the “quality level you expect and deserve”.

Naughty Dog has promised that they will be releasing a new patch for The Last of Us Part 1 tomorrow that will address “jittering on mouse-controlled camera movement”, and address some crashes. Additionally, a larger patch that aims to address more issues will be released later this week.

Currently, The Last of Us Part 1 has a “Mixed” review rating on Steam, which is much better than the game’s “mostly negative” review rating on launch day. This is a clear sign that The Last of Us Part 1’s early PC patches have addressed many of the issues that gamers have faced, and likely that more PC gamers have waited for the game’s shaders to compile.

Even after the game’s first two patches, The Last of Us Part 1 remains heavily CPU-limited on PC and the game’s shaders take a very long time to compile. We hope that Naughty Dog can do something magical to get this game running better on PC, especially on the CPU-side, but we will have to wait and see what this game’s PC patches can deliver.

If you have a sufficiently high-end system (one with a high-end processor), you can likely power though this game’s more CPU-heavy scenes. That said, most PC gamers do not have top of the line hardware, and neither should that level of hardware be needed to run this game given The Last of Us Part 1’s own system requirements.
