Thanks to Videocardz we are now able to have a look at some of MSI’s upcoming RTX 4070 graphics cards, their RTX 4070 Gaming X and their RTX 4070 Ventus 3X. These graphics cards are expected to launch on April 13th, and only represent part of MSI’s RTX 4070 product line.

MSI are reportedly working on higher-end RTX 4070 SUPRIM and SUPRIM X RTX 4070 models and lower-end RTX 4070 Ventus 2x models. In total, including OC and non-OC variants, it looks like MSI are planning to launch eight RTX 4070 models, giving consumers plenty of RTX 4070s to choose from.

Based on the boxart of MSI’s GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards, Nvidia’s RTX 4070 will feature 12GB of GDDR6X memory and support Nvidia’s DLSS 3 technology, just like all other RTX 40 series Ada based graphics cards.

MSI’s RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio graphics card appears to be a 2.5-slot graphics card, whereas the RTX 4070 Ventus 3X appears to be a dual-slot graphics card. With Nvidia’s RTX 4070 reportedly having a TDP of around 200 watts, Nvidia’s RTX 4070 GPUs will be much less power hungry than their higher-end counterparts, which means that RTX 4070 models do not need cooling solutions that are as advanced as what we have seen with higher-end RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 4080, and RTX 4090 GPUs.

Based on MSI’s RTX 4070 Ventus 3X, Nvidia’s RTX 4070 is the first Ada-based graphics card design from Nvidia that can be powered using a traditional 8-pin (6+2-pin) power connector. That said, this is not a given for all RTX 4070 graphics cards, as the RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio can be seen below with a 16-pin 12VHPWR connector.

With their GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards, Nvidia appears to be giving their partners the option to use either 12VHPWR connectors or 8-pin PCIe power connectors.

Recent rumours have suggested that Nvidia’s RTX 4070 graphics card will launch with an MSRP of $599 in the US, a price point that will likely be met by MSI’s non-overclocked RTX 4070 Ventus 2X model. Remember that Nvidia’s MSRP prices are effectively minimum prices for their graphics cards at launch, which means that MSI’s other RTX 4070 models are expected to carry more premium prices.
