Nvidia DLSS 2 crushes AMD FSR 2 in 26-game comparative test
DLSS 2 smashes AMD’s FSR 2 technology in 26-game “ultimate analysis”
Hardware Unboxed has recently released a video that compares AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution technology to Nvidia’s DLSS 2 upscaler across 26 games, creating what they call the “Ultimate Analysis” of both technologies.Â
By conducting this analysis Hardware Unboxed compared the quality of both DLSS 2 and FSR 2 and rated each game at 4K and 1440p resolutions across each game’s Quality and Performance upscaling settings. There were no games where AMD’s FSR 2 technology was found to deliver superior levels of image quality to DLSS, though there are titles where both technologies tie at 4K. Â
Below is the rating scale that Hardware Unboxed used to compare DLSS 2 and FSR 2, allowing them to highlight where either technology is slightly better than the other, moderately better than the other, or significantly better than the other.
Overall, DLSS 2 won stronger victories over FSR 2 when used at 1440p, and when DLSS’s performance mode is used at 4K and 1440p. This suggests that DLSS handles lower resolution inputs better than FSR 2, with FSR 2 tying with DLSS most often at 4K resolutions with quality mode enabled.
Below we can see Hardware Unboxed’s overall findings, which show that there are no cases where AMD’s FSR 2 technology delivers better results than Nvidia’s DLSS technology. This means that users of Nvidia RTX graphics card should almost always use Nvidia’s DLSS 2 upscaler over AMD’s FSR 2 upscaler, and that AMD’s upscaling technology has clear room for improvement. Â
DLSS is currently one of Nvidia’s strongest GPU performance and marketing tools, enabling high quality upscaling to give gamers a huge performance boost.
