Resident Evil 2/3's latest PC update removed ray tracing from the game

Capcom has removed ray tracing from Resident Evil 2/3s remakes and nobody knows why

On PC, Capcom has patched both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3’s remakes, releasing no patch notes for either update. Strangely, these updates appear to remove support for Ray Tracing from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on PC, features that were added to both games last support as part of their “next-generation” updates.

Currently, it is unknown if Capcom intentionally or unintentionally removed ray tracing from the PC versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, or if the company plans to re-add the removed ray tracing features from both games. Currently, many PC gamers are annoyed that ray tracing has been removed from both games, though it is probable that Capcom will release a new update for both games soon to re-implement the feature.

While most PC gamers agree that Resident Evil 2/3’s ray tracing is too taxing on most graphics cards to be a worthwhile add-on, it is strange that Capcom would remove ray tracing so long after Resident Evil 2/3’s next-generation upgrade. This addition was heavily advertised, so it is easy to see why many PC gamers feel betrayed. Let’s hope that Capcom can address this issue quickly.
