Capcom acknowledges Resident Evil 2/3's ray tracing removal - Fix Planned

Capcom’s working to bring back ray tracing in Resident Evil 2/3’s PC versions

Following the release of Capcom’s April 14th for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on PC, PC gamers quickly discovered that the game’s ray tracing options had been removed from both titles, an apparent bug that was added with the game’s new update.

With Capcom issuing no release notes for their April 14th update, it was unclear if the removal of ray tracing from both games was an intentional change or a bug that arrived with the game’s new update. Now, Capcom has confirmed that this change to Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 was unintentional, and that the company will re-add ray tracing to both games with a future update.

Below is Capcom’s Tweet apologising for the issue, which confirms that a new patch will address the issue.

Ray tracing was added to Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 last summer as part of the games’ “Next-generation” upgrade, which added ray tracing to both games on compatible PCs and current-generation consoles like Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. While both games look great without ray tracing, ray tracing can improve the visuals of both titles in many areas, making their addition a welcome one for gamers who have powerful enough hardware to utilise these demanding graphical options.
