AUO are set to reveal a huge 49-inch 360Hz 5K monitor at Touch Taiwan

AUO plans to reveal 5K 360Hz and 1080p 540Hz displays at Touch Taiwan

At the Touch Taiwan trade show, AUO Optronics are set to reveal a wide range of new display technologies, including new transparent micro LED panels, as well as high resolution gaming-oriented screens. 

One of the screens that AUO is set to showcase is a 5K 49-inch 32:9 display that offers users a refresh rate of 360Hz. Given its “5K” status and its dual 16:9 aspect ratio, it is likely that this monitor will be a 5120×1440 screen. To put it another way, this screen is effectively two 1440p monitors side by side. 

Alongside their 360Hz “5K” gaming monitor, AUO also plans to showcase a 24-inch 1080p 540Hz display panel, a screen that is designed to “eliminate screen tearing, stuttering, and ghosting issues.” Sadly, it is unknown what display panel technology that this screen will use, though it is likely that this is a TN panel, given how common TN panels are for ultra high refresh rate monitors. 

We can expect AUO to officially reveal multiple new screen technologies at Touch Taiwan later this week. Touch Taiwan will be hosted between April 19th and April 21st.
