Here Immortals of Aveum's uber-high PC system requirements

Immortals of Aveum has extremely high minimum system requirements, and PC gamers should get used to this

Immortal’s of Aveum is set to be one of EA’s first next-generation showcases, launching exclusively on current-generation console platforms and PC with strong visuals and gameplay that promises to be “Call of Duty, but with magic”.

With this game being a current-generation exclusive, it makes sense that this game’s PC system requirements are on the high side. This game was made with current-generation hardware in mind, not the hardware of yesteryear. As such, EA expects gamers to have a powerful PC to play this game with, even if they plan to play the game at 1080p Low settings.

For starters, Immortals of Aveum is a game that demands a strong 8-core processor, which makes sense given the fact that all current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S) all use 8-core AMD Zen 2 processors. In this regard, it makes sense that AMD’s Ryzen 7 3700X and Intel’s i7-9700 are this game’s minimum processors, and why higher-end CPUs like AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700X and Intel i7-12700 are recommended.

On top of this game’s high CPU requirements, Immortals of Aveum requires 16GB of memory in dual-channel mode and strongly recommends SSD storage. This makes sense as modern consoles have access to a lot of memory bandwidth, and SSD-based storage. Moving forward, 16GB of system memory is the minimum that PC gamers should have, and 32GB systems will likely be common place before the end of this console generation.

GPU-wise AMD’s Radeon RX 5700 XT and Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Super are recommended for 1080p Low to Medium settings. Both of these GPUs have 8GB of VRAM, and it is probable that owners of 6GB graphics cards will struggle to play this game. For 1440p Medium-High settings, Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti and AMD’s RX 6800 XT are recommended, GPUs that feature 12GB and 16GB of VRAM respectively.

With Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 offering users 8-core Zen 2 processors as their performance baseline, it makes sense that next-gen only releases are going to have high CPU requirements. These CPUs are much stronger that the Jaguar CPUs seen in last-generation consoles, and once next-gen games start targeting 30 FPS, new PC games may start to struggle running at high 60+ FPS framerates when played without top of the line CPUs. Modern consoles feature much stronger processors than their predecessors, and that means that the CPU requirements of games are going to sharply increase once developers stop making games with last-generation hardware in mind.
