The Last of Us Part 1’s 1.0.4 patch promises “framerate optimisations” and “fidelity improvements”

The Last of Us Part 1's 1.0.4 patch promises

Expect The Last of Us Part 1’s next patch to deliver performance improvements

Naughty Dog has confirmed that patch 1.04 for The Last of Us Part 1 will be released next week, and that this patch will deliver some “framerate optimisations” to the game.

Alongside the game’s performance boosting “framerate optimisations”, patch 1.0.4 will also include “graphical and texture fidelity improvements”, which means that patch 1.0.4 should make the game both run smoother and look better on PC.

The Last of Us Part 1 launched on PC in a poor state, with many gamers suffering from a wide range of issues that included stuttering, poor performance, crashing, and a myriad of bugs. Now, The Last of Us Part 1 is a lot more stable on PC, but the game’s performance (particularly its CPU performance) remains a sticking point. Additionally, the game’s shader compilation step can take a very long time to complete, even on high-end CPUs.

With patch 1.0.4, The Last of Us Part 1 should run a lot smoother on PC, though it remains to be seen how much of an impact the update will have. We hope to test The Last of Us Part 1’s 1.0.4 update when it is released next week.
