Has EA admitted that Jedi: Survivor isn’t ready to launch?

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is due to launch on PC and current gen consoles tomorrow, and EA has already confirmed that they have performance patches in the works for the game, implying that the game will not run well at launch.

Early reviews for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have complained about performance issues with the game, with PC reviewers reporting poor CPU utilisation and sub 60 FPS framerates on strong gaming PCs.

It is highly unusual for a major AAA publisher to promise performance related patches for a game ahead of launch, as typically these promises are made following a game’s launch in response to complaints from customers. This confirms that EA are aware of the performance issues that affect Star Wars Jed: Survivor, and that the company are unwilling to delay their game to wait for their planned updates and fixes to be in place.

In the Tweet below, EA promises patches in the “weeks ahead” that will fix bugs, improve performance, and add more accessibility options to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While a day-1 update is planned for the game, it is worth noting that all of the above promises are for patches in the “weeks ahead” not the game’s day-1 update.

2023 has become infamous for being the year of sub-par PC game releases, but based on early reviews it appears that it isn’t just PC gamers that are impacted by performance issues in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Thankfully, EA are working on these issues and performance patches are coming. It’s just a shame that these changes cannot be made before tomorrow’s launch, and that EA are seemingly willing to release a product with known performance issues.
