EA releases a statement following Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s horrific PC launch

EA admits that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has a sub standard PC version 

EA has released an official statement about the PC version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, confirming that the game “isn’t performance to our standards for a percentage of our PC players”. This statement comes after the game has received a “mostly negative” review rating on Steam, as purchasers of the game report the game’s performance issues on the PC gaming storefront. 

In their statement, EA has stated that many PC gamers are experiencing “frame loss” when playing the game with a high-end GPU and a “lower performing CPU”, though based on what we have heard from player, Jedi: Survivor’s performance issues is not confined to a small but vocal selection of PC gamers. 

Most of the reports that we have seen regarding Jedi: Survivor’s PC performance issues stem from the game’s poor utilisation of modern processors, as the game does not appear to be taking advantage of the high core/thread counts most modern gaming systems. Many gamers are citing frequent performance dips to around 30 FPS, on system that feature CPUs and GPUs that are far above Star Wars Jedi; Survivor’s recommended system requirements.

EA has stated that there is no “single comprehensive solution for PC performance”, which means that a variety of changes to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are required to improve the game’s performance on PC. EA has also stated that they will “continue to monitor performance across all platforms” and release updates for their game as soon as they can. 

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is one of many games that have released in a poor state in 2023, and based on pre-launch statements regarding performance updates, it is clear that EA knew that gamers on PC and consoles would run into performance issues when playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Instead of delaying the game to deliver a high-performing PC/console version, EA instead decided to release their game is a highly unpolished state. While updates should address these performance issues, the launch of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a stain on EA’s reputation, and gamers deserve better.
