Modder showcases DLSS 3 Frame Generation in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Modder reveals proof of concept DLSS 3 mod for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

– Update – You can now read our PC performance analysis of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor here, which includes before and after testing with patch 3.5.

Like many modern PC games, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is very CPU-heavy, and while the game’s CPU-limited nature can be attributed to poor optimisation, it highlights the benefits of Nvidia’s DLSS 3 Frame Generation technology.

A game modder called PureDark has showcases an “imperfect demo” of DLSS 3 Frame Generation being used in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, effectively doubling the game’s framerate. This makes the game appear smoother in motion, though this early version of the mod does not deliver perfect visual results with its AI generated frames.

Nvidia’s DLSS 3 Frame Generation technology utilises the AI performance of RTX 40 series graphics cards alongside temporal frame data and other game information to add AI generated frames in-between traditionally rendered frames, effectively doubling a game’s framerate to increase a game’s visual fluidity.

Unfortunately, DRM issues have prevented PureDark from replacing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s FSR 2 integration with DLSS Super Resolution (DLSS 2), but that has not stopped the modder from adding a “not very polished implementation” of DLSS Frame Generation. Currently, PureDark does not plan to polish this mod any further, so it may be released online in an “as is” state soon. Perhaps another modder can polish this implementation further, or EA and Respawn can add their own DLSS 3 implementation to their game with a future update.
