AMD confirms “mainstream” RDNA 3 GPU launch plans for this quarter

Expect new RDNA 3 GPUs to launch over the next few months

During their Q1 2023 earnings call, AMD’s CEO Lisa Su confirmed that the company planned to “expand” their RDNA 3 GPU lineup with new RX 7000 series models, stating that new “mainstream” graphics cards would launch this quarter. This reveal comes hot on the heels of rumours that AMD plans to reveal their Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card, a GPU that could launch within the next month.

With Lisa Su stating that “new mainstream Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs” will be launched this quarter, it is probable that we will see multiple new GPU launches over the next few months. This should bring some much needed competition within the mid-range of the GPU market, and hopefully give PC gamers more bang for their buck with new GPU purchases. 

Below is what AMD’s Lisa Su had to say about their Radeon RX 7000 series during the company’s Q1 earnings call. The quote below was transcripted by Seeking Alpha. 

     In gaming graphics, channel sell-through of our Radeon 6000 and Radeon 7000 series GPUs increased sequentially. We saw strong sales of our high-end Radeon 7900 XTX GPUs in the first quarter, and we’re on track to expand our RDNA 3 GPU portfolio with the launch of new mainstream Radeon 7000 series GPUs this quarter.

Currently, it is unknown how many new RDNA 3 graphics cards AMD plans to launch this quarter, though we can expect to hear more about what AMD has planned at Computex, which will start later this month on May 30th.
