MSI gives their PCIe 4.0 SSD lineup a boost with their new SPATIUM M480 PRO

MSI’s new SPATIUM M480 PRO SSD promises users up to a 60% performance boost over their non-Pro models

While PCIe 5.0 may be the SSD market’s newest feature, MSI knows that there are ways to push SSD performance forward outside of simple sequential read/write benchmarks. Yes, higher sequential speeds do look good on a spec sheet, but there is more to SSD performance than that.

MSI has just released their new SPATIUM M480- PRO SSD, a new series of solid state drives that utilise the same Phison E18 SSD controller as its predecessor but utilises new high-density and high performance 3D NAND modules. This these modules, MSI’s new SPATIUM M480 PRO promises users up to 60% faster random read/write performance, and lower overall drive latencies.

While this drive’s headline feature is an increase in read/write IOPS, the SPATIUM M480 PRO also boasts higher sequential read/write speeds than the M480, increasing sequential read speeds to as high as 7,400 MB/s and sequential write speeds to up to 7,000 MB/s. This makes the SPATIUM M480 PRO one of the fastest PCIe 4.0 SSDs available, The drive is also available in three forms, the M480 PRO HS, which features a large pre-installed heatsink, the PlayStation 5 compatible M480 PRO PLAY, and the heatsink-less MP480 PRO (which is compatible with a broader range of PCs and motherboards)
