Blizzard confirms that Two Diablo IV expansions are in the works

Two Diablo IV expansions are already in development – Rod Fergusson confirms

Diablo IV has just launched, and Blizzard has already confirmed that multiple expansions for the game are already in development, with Rod Fergusson, the head of the Diablo franchise, confirming that they are almost finished with the game’s season 1 content, and that they are already working on the game’s first and second expansions.

Following Diablo IV’s launch, Blizzard are planning to support the game with seasonal content updates as well as paid-for expansions. Diablo IV will be using the Live Service development format, and Blizzard has already promised to deliver richer seasonal content than they did for Diablo IV.

Below is a quote from Rod Fergusson from the Kinda Funny Xcast, which is available to watch below.

As I sit here we’re about to launch the main game, we’re finishing up season one, we’re working on season two, we’re working on expansion one, we’re kicking off expansion two…we’re working on that now and we haven’t even launched the game.

With Diablo IV, it looks like Blizzard are planning to deliver new content in a similar manner to games like Destiny 2, which receives frequent content updates, seasonal content additions, and paid for expansions. This mix of free and paid for content should help maintain a strong player base for Diablo IV, and a revenue stream for Blizzard that will allow them to continue supporting the game.

We’re going to be supporting Diablo 4 for years to come – (with) very rich seasons, much richer than we had in Diablo 3.

Now that two expansions for the game have already been confirmed, Diablo fans can now rest assured that Diablo IV will be supported by Blizzard long-term. Diablo IV will be supported for years to come, which is great news for fans of the franchise.
