Samsung's huge 49-inch 5120x1440 Odyssey OLED G9 is now available to pre-order

Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G9 240Hz 5120×1440 monitor is now available to pre-order for £1,999.99

Earlier this year, Samsung revealed their Odyssey OLED G9 240Hz 5120×1440 gaming monitor, a FreeSync Premium Pro curved (1800R) monitor that features a Quantum Dot OLED panel that is 49 inches in size and features an integrated “Neo Quantum Processor Pro”.

In the UK, Samsung’s new Odyssey OLED G9 240Hz 5120×1440 monitor is now available to pre-order through Overclockers UK for £1,999.99. This screen is expected to ship in early July in the UK.

With a resolution of 5120×1440 and a screen size of 49 inches, Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G9 is effectively two standard 27-inch 1440p monitors sitting side by side. With its 240Hz refresh rate, Variable Refresh Rate compatibility, OLED panel, and 0.03ms response times, this screen promises to be an ultra-wide gaming behemoth that supports both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort connections.

Like Samsung’s other premium gaming screens, the Odyssey OLED G9 features Samsung’s Gaming Hub, which effectively gives this screen Smart TV like functionality, supporting cloud gaming though Xbox Cloud and Nvidia GeForce Now, as well as content streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube.

Given this screen’s use of a Quantum Dot OLED screen, it is unsurprising that Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G9 VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black, which is not to be confused with DisplayHDR 400. This standard requires per pixel local dimming, enabling incredible contrast ratios and eliminates blooming and halos on screen. With OLED screens, deep blacks can be displayed beside bright highlights, enabling an incredible HDR gaming or viewing experience.

With a price tag of £1,999.99, Samsung’s new Odyssey OLED G9 gamin monitor is far beyond the price ranges of most consumers, though it is worth noting that a cheaper version of this screen is in the works that drops the screen’s Smart TV like streaming features to deliver the same OLED screen at a lower price.
