Inflation hits Fortnite – Epic Games increases V-Bucks pricing in the UK, Canada and Mexico

Epic Games are increasing the price of Fortnite’s V-Bucks

Epic Games have announced an “upcoming Fortnite Pricing Alignment” that will affect gamers in the UK, Canada, and Mexico next month. While Epic Games has stated that these pricing changes are due to economic factors like “inflation and currency fluctuations”, it is hard not to see this as a good old fashioned price hike for affected regions.

The good news, or perhaps we should say less bad, news is that these price increases are minor in nature. 1,000 V-Bucks is now 50p more expensive at £6.99, and the game’s Intrepid Engines Pack is now £3.49 instead of £3.19.

For paying players of Fortnite, the game will become more expensive when these price increases come into effect on July 17th. This means that you can still buy V-BUCKs as their current pricing, at least for now.

Below is a summary of some of Fortnite’s planned pricing changes in the UK.

– Intrepid Engines Pack (£3.19 to £3.49)
– Full Clip Pack (£12.99 to £13.99)
– 1,000 V-Bucks (£6.49 to £6.99)
– 2,800 V-Bucks (£15.99 to £17.49)
– 5,000 V-Bucks (£25.99 to £27.99)
– 13,500 V-Bucks (£63.99 to £69.99)

While Fortnite’s pricing has not changed hugely, it is sad to see price hikes on what is already one of the most profitable games available. Fortnite’s microtransactions are now a little less micro, and it is unlikely that today’s small price increase will result in lessened sales for Fortnite V-Bucks and content.
