Expect AMD to launch new RDNA 3 graphics cards this quarter

During the company’s Q2 2023 earnings call, AMD’s Lisa Su confirmed that the company plans to launch new “enthusiast-class” Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards this quarter, which means that we should expect to see several new GPUs from AMD before October 2023 (when Q3 ends).

With AMD listing their RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT graphics cards as “Ultra-Enthusiast” graphics cards, we can expect AMD’s planned “Enthusiast-Class” GPUs to sit below AMD’s RX 7900 series graphics cards. it is probable that AMD will release RX 7800 and RX 7700 series GPUs this quarter, with recent rumours suggesting that AMD are planning to reveal new GPUs at Gamescom.

AMD’s new enthusiast-class graphics cards will likely compete with Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 graphics cards, offering users more VRAM and compelling levels of rasterisation performance.

We are on track to further expand our RDNA 3 GPU offerings with the launch of new enthusiast-class Radeon 7000 series cards in the third quarter.

While some are suggesting that AMD are planning to launch new Radeon RX 7950 XT and RX 7950 XTX series graphics cards with higher power limits and more competitive performance with Nvidia’s higher-end RTX 40 series graphics cards, we do not believe that AMD has any plans to release such graphics cards at this time. As said previously, AMD defines these GPUs at “Ultra-Enthusiasts” products, and it would make sense for AMD to release new RX 7800 and RX 7700 series products before refreshing their RX 7900 series GPU lineup.
