Reverse Delay? - Assassin's Creed Mirage is launching earlier than expected

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has gone gold and is now launching early

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage has gone gold, confirming that the game’s development is complete and that the game is ready for sale. With this announcement, Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s release date has been moved forward to October 5th, one week earlier than originally planned.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage places players in Bagdad as Basim, a 9th century Assassin. The game moves the Assassin’s Creed series away from the large-scale RPG trappings of the last three Assassin’s Creed titles and promises to give players a tighter experience with a smaller scope and more refined gameplay. In a sense, this new Assassin’s Creed game will be more like the 2007 original than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which is good news for those of us who felt that some of the most recent Assassin’s Creed games were too large for many gamers to complete fully.

With the game’s having “gone gold”, the team behind the title now has more than a month to search for and fix bugs and other issues with the game ahead of launch. Hopefully this means that the game will be relatively bug free when it releases in October. That’s good news for gamers on all platforms, as nobody wants to but a game and then wait for updates.

With Assassin’s Creed Mirage launching earlier in October, Ubisoft has moved the launch of their game further ahead of games like Forza Motorsport, Alan Wake II, Spider-Man 2, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. October 2023 is a big month for the video game industry, and an earlier launch has the potential to allow Assassin’s Creed Mirage to hold the media’s attention for longer. That said, this could blow up in Ubisoft’s face if the company has not done enough to ensure that the game is relatively bug free at launch.
