Is this an RX 7800 XT? PowerColor teases upcoming Hellhound series GPU

PowerColor’s ready for AMD’s Gamecom 2023 RDNA 3 GPU reveal

PowerColor has started to tease a new graphics card, a GPU that pledges to offer gamers “unpatched adaptability and cooling efficiency”. Since PowerColor is an AMD-only GPU manufacturer, it is probable that this new graphics card is AMD’s Radeon RX 7800 XT, and the image below showcases what is undoubtedly a Hellhound series graphics card.

Based on the image below, we are probably looking at a GPU with a triple-fan heatsink. This GPU below has a 2x 8-pin PCIe power configuration, LED illuminated fans, and an “LED switch”. Sadly, there is little more to be seen from PowerColor’s teaser aside from the fact that this GPU is “Coming Soon”.

Is this an RX 7800 XT? PowerColor teases upcoming Hellhound series GPU

Thanks to PowerColor, specifications for AMD’s Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics card have already leaked, revealing that the GPU is a graphics card with 16GB of GDDR6 memory, 3840 stream processors, and clock speeds that are much higher than its last-generation counterpart. This GPU has the same CU count as AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 non-XT, but the RX 7800 XT benefits from higher clock speeds and RDNA 3’s architectural benefits.

When compared to AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 non-XT, AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 7800 XT features game and boost clock speeds that are around 400 MHz higher. Add on AMD’s increase per-CU performance with RDNA 3, and gamers can expect to see a huge leap in performance over AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 series GPUs.

Currently, it is unknown how much AMD’s Radeon RX 7800 XT will cost, though it is likely that AMD will target Nvidia’s RTX 4070 graphics card with this new model, highlighting the Radeon RX 7800 XT’s additional VRAM as a key selling point.
