Where's MSI? It looks like MSI won't be releasing RX 7700 XT or RX 7800 XT GPUs at launch

Is MSI going to be missing from AMD’s RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT launch?

At Gamescom 2023, AMD revealed their Radeon RX 7800 XT and Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics cards, two RDNA 3 based GPUs that utilise AMD’s Navi 32 chip design. When AMD showcased their list of launch day hardware partners, the list included well known GPU brands that include ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte, Sapphire, XFX, and PowerColor, but MSI was missing from that list.

MSI are a major producer of graphics cards, motherboards, laptops and other PC products, and it looks like the company’s partnership with AMD’s Radeon division is in a strange place. Based on the slide below, MSI will not be releasing Radeon RX 7700 XT or Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics cards on September 6th, and MSI has previously missed the launch of AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX (though they did eventually release custom RX 7900 XT/XTX designs a few months later).

Currently, it is unknown why MSI are not listed amongst AMD’s Navi 32 GPU launch partners, though it is likely that their exclusion means that they will not be releasing any Navi 32 based graphics cards on day-1. Has MSI shifted their focus to Nvidia GeForce products, or has MSI simply failed to produce a Navi 32 based GPU design in time for AMD’s product launch?

(MSI are missing from AMD’s partners list)

AMD’s Radeon RX 7800 XT is designed to target Nvidia’s RTX 4070 graphics card, offering gamers more VRAM and more raw performance in many games while also arriving at a much lower price. With their Navi 32 based GPU designs, AMD plans to grab market share from Nvidia in the mid-range GPU market.

While MSI has not been listed as an AMD launch partner for their Radeon RX 7700 XT or Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics cards, we do expect MSI to release Navi 32 based graphics cards at some point. Just expect these GPUs to arrive after AMD’s product launch.
